The Missoula Breastfeeding Coalition started 2009 off with a bang. Recent events in Missoula illustrated a need to highlight breastfeeding friendly businesses in our Community. The Breastfeeding Friendly Business Drive has started off strong and will be an ongoing Missoula Breastfeeding Coalition Project. Contact us if you are interested in becoming breastfeeding friendly.

JOIN our Breastfeeding Friendly Busines Drive

After the recent breastfeeding hot talk around town, we are ready to take Missoula on and promote breastfeeding in our community. Mamas, and breastfeeding supporters, the Breastfeeding Coalition needs you. All you have to do is come to a meeting next Wednesday, January 23rd, at the Health Department full of positive energy. We will introduce the breastfeeding friendly business packets to take to a couple of businesses in your spare time. All you do is bring the packet and donation back and you have helped outreach to a Missoula business, as well as, raise a few dollars to support breastfeeding non-profits. More importantly, you have done so much more by giving a woman a place where she knows she can stop and feed her baby. Come to the meeting, take on a business, and grab a packet. If you are a breastfeeding friendly business, or know of a business but can't make the meeting give us a call and we will set you up with your cool sticker and breastfeeding friendly business info. We will also add you to our list of supporters!

MBC Breastfeeding Rest Stop a Great Success!

Big thumbs up to the Rivercity Roots Festival for the Breastfeeding Rest Stop. It was a huge success, with about 40 mothers using the tent, coming in for a quiet, cool place to nurse, to change a diaper, for breastfeeding support, to ask questions for their friends and daughters, and finding a place to finally share their story about troubles they encountered years ago when they were nursing. We even had grandfathers and teenage boys stopping by just to say "Keep up the good work." Other mothers stopped by to tell us that they wished we had been there when they were nursing. Some of the mothers signed a guest book and commented on their way out. In addition, when asked they said that they were more likely to attend and stay longer at events if we were present. A few mothers came to the tent both days of the festival. Three cheers to the Missoula Downtown Association, volunteers, sponsors and all the moms and babies for helping to make the Breastfeeding Rest Stop a wonderful success. Stay tuned for information on the Rest Stop's future event schedule.
